Phelps Creek Angus Farm, owned by Watt and Jenny Foster, is a registered and commercial angus cow/calf operation located on US 501 in Naruna 5 miles north of Brookneal, Virginia. For over a decade, we have built our herd with strong genetics, strict culling, and dedication to results. Our animals are from proven lines and are sure to strengthen your herd. Over the years, we have grown on a solid genetic foundation with herd sires from Wehrmann Angus, Gardiner Angus Ranch, Knoll Crest Farm and more. We recently added 6 new herd sires who average $Beef of +42.59 and +83YW, including Rito 3B4 from Wehrmann with +97YW! New herd sire GAR 1407 NEW DESIGN 5652 boasts a top 4% breed ranking, and he shares his sire with GAR INTEGRITY who sold for $255,000 and is leased to Select Sires. Our herd contains top producing lines like Rito, GAR Grid Maker, GAR Retail Product, GAR Expectation, Bon View New Design, GAR Predestined, GAR Integrity, GAR Precision, and SVF Forever Lady. Angus from these lines have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars all over the world! We are dedicated to producing top quality animals.

Phelps Creek has always had a simple but strict breeding program. We only breed with the best cows who have 100% birth-success rates. The cows we use milk properly, have quality udders and good feet. No corners are cut. We partner with Select Sires, Inc. for our AI program. Synchronized fall AI breeding has been part of our program for a few years now, and we have been very pleased with the results. In 2005 we used 38 embryo tranfers that were combinations of 3 pretty heifers we bought from Gardiner Angus Ranch and top sires from Select Sires. We plan to implement more embryo transfer into our breeding program in the coming years. In 2004, we produced a Phelps Creek record of 375 registered calves. For the past 5 years, we have had a public sale in the late summer featuring our best registered young bulls of the season. We typically select only 30-40 of our top young bulls for this sale. Whether you are looking for bulls to build your herd around or just strong additions, ours will produce. They will do a good job and make money. Currently, we keep as many as 400 top quality registered black angus on hand for private treaty sale. This includes 100 Wye Bred Angus that we recently added from Charles Foster's Keyacre herd. Our commercial herd is also growing and contains as many as 400 black influenced cattle. At any given time, we have registered and commercial open heifers, bred heifers, cow/calf pairs, and bulls.
